Especially in the South, food says love in a special way. There's something intimate and special about sharing food with someone. It speaks in ways that words sometimes can't.

I grew up in the country surrounded by a large, close and wonderful family. My grandmother, mom and aunts were all amazing cooks who enjoyed sharing their gift with others. It sparked something in me that continues to this day.

I remember Mom piling me and my brothers in the station wagon loaded down with pies, cakes or other goodies to take to family or neighbors. I remember the wafting smells of fresh-baked treats or the comforting warmth of a steaming casserole. The sweetness of a stolen taste of icing. And I remember the excitement and anticipation of sharing a special gift with someone, waiting to see their eyes light up, knowing how special they would feel.

Any and every event called for a special meal or treat. Whether sharing in the joy of celebration or comforting in a time of sadness, it was always an event for a special gift of food. Food was - and is - our family’s way of sharing love and thank you's. It continues on with each generation.

I love Cherry on Top because it allows that tradition to continue in our busy lives today. Few of us have time to bake for others, but that special connection to food and fellowship is still there. A few years ago, I ran across a special cake (My Granny's Cake) and shared it with a few loved ones, who immediately wanted to be able to share it with others. And so Cherry on Top began.

Since then, I've searched for all of the best goodies to share with friends and family. And now I'd like to share them with you. I think you'll love them as much as we do.
